We knew that playing Ilford from the Central Section of the Eastern Junior Alliance would be formidable challenge, but was determined to give a good account of ourselves. But conceding 3-goals early in the first-half proved to be the future outcome of this match, with the exception of a 20min spell before half-time in which we showed we could compete. A calamity of poor marking and mistakes in all areas of the pitch. Ilford outclassed, outplayed, were physically stronger and had the pace to cause us problems even when they brought players off the bench.
A real emphasis now is to bring in additional players who have the ability to compete at this level.
