This was a match in which Wanderers Youth redeemed some credibility after the previous weeks heavy defeat. The absence of two key players Luke Reid and Sarvio Moore, meant that we would have to reshuffle the team for todays match against Bury. It was a welcomed return for Neil Hayward to the Youth setup for this match.
A poor refereeing decision led to the first goal when the linesman was over ruled for a clear off-side and a penalty that should have taken Wanderers in at half-time 1 - 1 instead of 2 - 0. Proved to be costly, as we squandererd the chances created in the second half. A further 2-goals came in the second half to rap up a comfortable win for Bury, but flattered the Academy team as the difference to the sides was the quality of finishing by their strikers.
As we still pursue our quest for an accomplished striker. All-round a very good performance by the Youth team with some notable performances in Josh Downes in central defence, Sam Knibbs, Neil Hayward and Matt Wilson in midfield.
