Needham Market Reserves 0 v Wanderers Reserves 0
Wednesday 1st March 2006
Ridgeons Reserve League (North)
The game was played on a freezing cold evening that made playing conditions all that much harder due to the rock hard pitch. It was so hard you could here the sound of boots rattling across the frozen turf like horses running down the road !!
The team was bolstered by appearances from Alan Mills, Terry Layton and Dean Tournay-Godfrey who entered the fray as a second half substitute which resulted in the team playing in a 4-4-2 formation, the same that saw them get the good result the previous Saturday against Woodbridge.
The game started evenly with lots of possession shared between the two midfields, neither goalkeeper was really troubled until Adam Potter stung the hands of the Needham 'keeper with a shot on the turn, it looked to some from the bench that it had snuck it’s way into the corner but alas just a corner.
Norfolk, Ingles and Rowe were trying to make an impression for Needham but the young lads in midfield, with the help of Alan Mills, kept them at bay to send the sides in level at half time.

Dean left his role as linesman to play the second half which resulted in the Needham back four being very wary of his pace, leaving a little more room for others to fill in the gaps created. In truth however the game was very tight and again both 'keepers were much untroubled until the last five minutes when Tournay-Godfrey put in a dangerous cross which Potter just failed to connect with to seal the victory.
All in all a point was well deserved and the team played some good football on a pitch that wasn’t conducive to this style of play. Some excellent performances all round which takes Wanderers up to 8th in the League.
