Shotley 0 - 2 Ipswich Wanderers
Suffolk Women's League
Sunday 25th March 2007
Sponsored by ARL School of Motoring
Due to various injuries and other commitments Wanderers could only field 10 players against a Shotley side looking to build on their recent victories. This also meant that a number of players had to play in positions they were unaccustomed to: Sarah Holden at left back, Roxy Middle at central midfield and Danni Clear up front by herself.
The opening exchanges were played in midfield with possession going backwards and forwards. Wanderers created a number of chances with both Hayward and Raven with weak shots that were easily dealt with by the Shotley keeper. Despite the player deficit Wanderers were passing the ball well. Turnbull received the ball on the edge of the area and had her heels clipped. Middle then took the resulting free kick that sailed in above the keeper.

The second half saw Wanderers slightly off the pace allowing Shotley a number of attacking chances. Up until now White in the Wanderers goal had had little to do but she was forced in to a number of good saves. Wanderers second goal was taken on the break from a Shotley attack. Finnegan cleared the ball from right back. From her own half Clear used her pace to knock the ball 10 yards passed the defender, found herself with a one on one with keeper. The first attempt was well saved but she could do nothing about the second which went in at pace from a tight angle.
Wanderers were cruising now. Any Shotley attacks were quickly snuffed out. Turnbull had a couple of chances towards the end. The first was a 25 yard effort taken on the half volley and the second was neatly played between the keepers legs only to be cleared off the line.
