IPSWICH WANDERERS RESERVES v. DEBENHAM LC RESERVES
RIDGEONS RESERVE LEAGUE (NORTH)
SATURDAY 17TH MARCH 2007
The reserves went into this game hoping for revenge for the 7-0 defeat in the reverse fixture.
The pace was set early on by Wanderers, who had changed the formation to 4-3-3.
Early chances fell to Roper before a neat one touch move between Adams and Potter ended with a chance for ROPER whose shot could only be palmed into the goal.
Debenham didn't create any clear cut chances until a long ball was missed by several Wanderers' defenders before an uncharacteristic slip from Stannard resulted in the equalizer.
Within 5 mins Debenham took the lead with only their second attempt of the half when a free-kick was headed in by Wanderers' defender Johnson.
HALF TIME 1-2.
Wanderers started the second half as they ended the first, with the majority of the possession and within a few minutes a long ball from Dunne was tapped home by TAYLOR.
Good pressure from Wanderers produced a second for TAYLOR when he volleyed home from the edge of the area.
The home defence held strong, the midfield three were industrious, and the pace of the front three caused Debenham numerous problems, resulting in a fourth for Wanderers, the third in 15 minutes of the second half, and a second of the game for ROPER.
Joint managers, Crick and Parker were forced into a change when Brennan picked up a knock, being replaced by Velzian. Later substitutes were used with C.Moore and S.Moore replacing Dunne and Roper. Later on Stannard pulled off a couple of stops to keep the Wanderers lead intact.
